In October 2018, Project Parivartan came up with an exciting and challenging project along with the Govt. of Telangana to reduce the dropout percent in the underprivileged schools in these districts, coined as Project Chakra- empowered by wheels.
The major reason for kids dropping out in these schools is the lack of options available for daily commute to the school. Children in these areas walk long miles in scorching heat and other adverse climatic conditions every day for basic education. (approx. 8-10 kms)
As part of this project, we shall be raising funds to purchase and furnish 10,000 cycles for secondary school children in the three most backward districts in Telangana, India. As part of the Phase I of the project, we shall be giving away 2000 cycles as a New Year gift to the underprivileged school children.
Challenges faced by these children:
Exhaustive daily commute of approx. 8-10 kms
Team Parivartan aspires to facilitate continued education of the child by addressing:
Motivation for continued education
Convenience of commute
